Adele has one of pop music’s biggest and most devoted fanbases because of her once-in-a-generation voice, her generosity, her outspokenness, and the fact that she, too, compares Beyonce to “Jesus F*cking Christ.” They also admire the “Hello” singer because she hilariously shades the Super Bowl halftime show — which she was possibly, potentially asked to perform during… maybe — but gets emotional when she has to cancel a concert.
In a video posted last week, Adele apologized to her fans in Phoenix, Arizona, for being sick. “As you can hear, even if I did the show, it wouldn’t be very good. I’m really, really sorry to let everyone down,” she said, while fighting a nasty cold. “I’ve enjoyed my tour so much and canceling shows has not been something I want to do. I’ve pushed through a lot of things, but I’ve been trying to sing all morning and warming up and nothing’s happening.”
Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Chelsea Peretti is also under the weather, and she spoofed Adele with a similar regret. “I’m really sick and I’m so sorry, I hate to cancel on being on social media,” she announced. “But I’ve, like, pushed it on so many occasions when I shouldn’t be on social media and now I’m paying for it.” Sorry Ralphie May, but Peretti is one of the greats (at parodying Adele.)
