Unlike that monster Chewbacca Mom, who’s now charging her “fans” $20 for an autograph, Growling Grandpa is handling his 15 minutes of Internet fame with quiet grace, humility, and ONE, something’s got to give, TWO, something’s got to give… In case you missed it, former Navy pilot John Hetlinger, 82 years young, took America (which, I hear, has talent) by storm with his unique cover of Drowning Pool’s “Bodies.” It’s as wonderful as his pants are high.
C.J. Pierce, Drowning Pool’s guitarist (I’m surprised his name isn’t C.J. Pool, too), agrees, and he’s recruiting Hetlinger to scream with the band. “I would love to have him come out onstage and sing a song with us,” Pierce told Billboard. “We invite a lot of people on the stage…It’s such a fun song to play. We had a guest onstage with us last week, Aidan Fisher; he is 13 years old and plays guitar. He was amazing, so we had him up to play ‘Bodies.’ So I would love to have John up there singing a song with us.” He added, “I didn’t realize our demographic is from 8-year-olds to 82-year-olds.”
And if you’re younger than 8, or older than 82, you’re more of a Godsmack fan, anyway.
