This Fan Ingeniously Used A Band’s Wikipedia Page To Get Into Their VIP Area

We’ve heard so many stories this year (and prior to) about people sneaking into events and festivals, and living to tell the tale. But this one arguably takes the cake: David Spargo, a fan of Australian electronic music duo Peking Duk, used the band’s Wikipedia page to gain backstage access at their show — and totally got away with it.

Spargo claimed to be related to the duo and, upon being asked for proof by the show’s skeptical security guard, pulled up the band’s Wikipedia page on his phone, which listed him under “family” (an edit he had made shortly before trying this out).

“It was probably the most genius, mastermind move that I’ve ever witnessed,” Peking Duk member Adam Hyde told The Guardian. “It’s crazy. He just did it on the spot, in a second on his phone.”

Spargo ended up meeting the guys (as well as having several beers with them) and, according to the duo, he was “an absolute legend.” “He wasn’t a creep or anything. He was, like, the most normal dude we’ve ever met. That’s what makes it more hilarious,” Hyde said.

But it gets even better for Spargo: Not only did the guys take down Spargo’s number for some more beer drinking in the future, but he’s still listed as family on the band’s Wikipedia page with an addendum: “Legend.”

Luckily, dude was a nice person and not a total creeper. He is also fortunate he wasn’t caught and stomped into oblivion by burly security guards. But still, people will definitely try this now. Now, who’s going to be the first one to try this in regards to getting backstage for a Drake show?
