It was really only a matter of time before this happened. KFC has been keeping it weird with its series of commercials featuring a different comedian as the Colonel and Fred Armisen has shown he can put on just about any character and bash out a few songs about it. We’ve already seen him take on not the Eagles and not the Talking Heads for Documentary Now! and now Armisen is donning the white suit of the Colonel for a few songs about KFC’s Nashville-style chicken.
Though we think the Colonel was more of a Tijuana brass man, Armisen has crafted two Rockabilly tunes about chicken and Nashville. The latter is just a series of fun facts about Nashville set to music, with Armisen’s asides (“Look it up!”) coming at the perfect time. Though if we were Armisen, we’d feel a little slighted at not being chosen as the hot colonel. Still, that colonel didn’t get released on vinyl. Both “C-O-L-O-N-E-L” and “Nashville-Centric Boogie” are being released on a free limited-edition lathe-cut 12″ that’s being hidden in record stores throughout the United States. Check out where to find them here.
As weird as this is, it’s going to be pretty much impossible to top Dolph Ziggler and The Miz’s KFC commercial in terms of overall strangeness.
