Since 2009, Virgin has held a free one-day festival at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD called, well, FreeFest. The lineup could be half-assed and people would still go, because it’s free, but once again, a killer group of talent has been assembled, with Vampire Weekend, MGMT, Avett Brothers, and CHVRCHES topping the bill.
Also there: Pretty Lights, Kaskade, Icona Pop, Sky Ferreira, Robin Thicke, Washed Out, Madeon, Ghost Beach, City and Colour, and Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears, among others. Tickets to FreeFest will be available beginning Friday, August 9th, at noon EST. If you’re a Virgin Mobile customer, prior FestFree attendee, or Like/Follow Virgin Mobile on Facebook/Twitter, you’re eligible for tickets a day before, on the 8th.
