Every year since 2006, Virgin Mobile has held a one-day free concert featuring some of the biggest names in music for customers and non-customers alike. The lineup for the 2012 edition, to be once again held at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland on October 6th, was announced today, and it’s a doozy: Jack White, Nas, M83, Santigold, ZZ Top, Alabama Shakes, Ben Folds Five (!), the Dismemberment Plan (!!), and, um, Skrillex, among many others. And you can see ’em all for free. Here’s how.
According to Virgin’s website:
Tickets to the 2012 Virgin Mobile FreeFest will go “On Free” to the public at noon (EDT) Friday, Aug. 24, via ticketfly.com. Fans who choose to follow Virgin Mobile Live on Twitter (@virginmlive) will see a link to participate in the private presale, which will be held Thursday, Aug. 23. Virgin Mobile customers and prior Virgin Mobile Festival ticket buyers will get special notification of the presale in advance as well. (Via)
So, basically, if you wanna see Jack White blaze through “Sixteen Saltines,” follow Virgin Mobile on Twitter and circle August 24th on your mind calender. It’s worth going just to hear this song live:
