There’s a bit of a stigma against bands whose debut albums are their best albums. For some reason, the idea of a band coming out as strong as they’ll ever be lessens that act in the eyes of the music-loving public. I’ve gone into detail about why this is b.s. before, but it’s doubly silly when we’re talking about an album as great as Interpol‘s breakout Turn On The Bright Lights. You don’t need to play anything else when you have a song as strong as “Obstacle 1.” And thanks to these newly announced anniversary shows, they won’t have to.
Interpol are following up a series of European anniversary dates with two shows stateside where they’ll play their first album front-to-back. They’re only hitting New York and Los Angeles, so hopefully you either live there or can find a reason to get there. Tickets for the newly added dates go on sale to the general public on May 5.
