Jidenna lit up social media Tuesday night with his BET Hip Hop Awards cypher after possibly coming out of the closet as gay. “Here go the Black Abe Lincoln, Black Blake Griffin, Amish man who stay pimping,” the “Long Live The Chief” rapper kicked off before possibly coming out. “Game straight women, or maybe he doesn’t date women but he stay primping.” The telling line now has many wondering if the “Classic Man” identifies as queer.

Last year, Jidenna said he he didn’t mind if people assumed he was gay because he didn’t have a problem with “people picking who they love,” but maintained he was very much into women. “You love who you love. I happen to just love a lot of women,” he told DJ Vlad about his sexuality. “I had assumed that people would talk about sexuality [because of my clothes] but the funny thing is, the era which I’m inspired by, the different eras I’m inspired by – the men groomed. Actually the manly men, the gangstas were the MOST well-groomed. Because they had the most money.”
It’s possible Jidenna was simply speaking on all the rumors he’s heard about himself in the cypher. If not, it’ll be interesting to see how this develops. Considering the reaction on Twitter, the MC himself will probably address the topic soon.
