This is one of the only times you’re ever going to read this sentence on UPROXX, so here comes history: one of my favorite scenes from Girls is in the episode where Hannah goes to a party in Bushwick, Brooklyn, and she meets a woman named Tako. “It’s with a K,” Tako immediately tells her, “I can usually tell when someone thinks it’s with a C.” It’s a perfect parody of people who give their name way too much credit, and now, Jay Z is one of them.
Word has trickled down through that Jay Z [NOT Jay-Z] is what we’re all supposed to be calling him for the foreseeable future. Billboard editor Joe Levy reported the name change last night on Twitter, citing label sources. And Billboard has now adopted that punctuation (or lack thereof) in its articles. (Via)
I look forward to the sequel Jay:Z.
