Kesha’s love for animals is well-known, making her a natural fit as a performer for the 2016 Humane Society Gala in Los Angeles on May 7. The 29-year-old pop singer gave a powerful performance of Lady Gaga’s “Til It Happens to You” while accompanied by the song’s co-writer and the evening’s honoree, Diane Warren. Kesha dedicated the cover to “every man, woman, child [and] animal that has ever been abused,” most likely a reference to her ongoing legal issues with Dr. Luke. Although there hasn’t been any progress with lawsuit, Kesha has managed to stay busy recently. After joining Zedd onstage at Coachella, the two released a new track called “True Colors.”
In addition, Kesha will joining Kacey Musgraves, Kurt Vile, and more at Dylan Fest later this month. She’ll also be joining Diplo’s Mad Decent Block Party, a 13-city tour featuring Tiesto, Baauer, AlunaGeorge, and more. She’s scheduled for at least three dates: August 7 at Brooklyn’s MCU Park, August 21 at Chicago’s FirstMerit Bank Pavilion, and the final stop on October 1 at L.A. Center Studios.
Hopefully Kesha can work out some sort of deal with Sony Music so she can fully return to the studio soon, but in the meantime, at least you can catch on her onstage this spring and early summer.
On Sunday, Gaga sent out her love for this performance. Gaga tweeted her ongoing support for Kesha and encouraged her friend to “get louder.”
Killed it @KeshaRose. I could feel your pain. Girl these boys won't be in charge forever. The wisdom of women is rising. Let's get louder 🤘🏽
