While other artists and some fans seem to be shunning Kanye West, Lil Uzi Vert appears to be embracing Yeezus and all his wisdom. In fact, the Philadelphia native revealed that he’s been in the studio with West recently, soaking up knowledge in the process.
The young rapper was a recent guest on DJ Whoo Kid’s Shade 45 radio show and the host asked Uzi if he had “oh shit” collaborations coming up. “I’ve been working with Kanye,” Uzi said.
When asked to describe what it’s like working in the studio with ‘Ye, Uzi answered, “He drops gems on you and he don’t even know … Like he’s just talking and he’s dropping gems. He’s very intelligent.”
Hardcore fans of the “Money Longer” MC need not worry too much though. He won’t be making wholesale changes to his style any time soon just because he’s been in the lab with one of the genre’s biggest stars — two if we’re counting his recent Gucci Mane collab, 1017 Vs. the World. However, he sounds like he learned a few tweaks he plans to make. “I’m not gonna say that I’ve switched my style, as of now, but of course Kanye helped my style in general,” he said.
The clip over covers a few minutes of the interview so it’s unclear whether Whoo Kid asked Uzi about his recent arrest stemming from riding dirtbikes around the city of Atlanta. Let’s hope that footage pops up next because that answer should be a doozy.
