Lil Wayne’s topsy 2016 may have hit another low point over the weekend. According to a report by TMZ, the rapper got into a scuffle with a bouncer at a nightclub where the rapper was scheduled to host an afterparty for the BET Awards.
“The bouncer was working the door Sunday night at Hyde nightclub on Sunset … where Wayne and 2 Chainz were hosting an after-party. Law enforcement sources tell us things got heated when several members of Weezy’s entourage got turned away at the door.
We’re told Wayne and the bouncer started arguing about who was getting in, and the bouncer says that’s when Wayne uncorked a punch to his face.”
The unidentified bouncer later went to the hospital to seek treatment and also called the cops to report the incident. The LAPD currently is investigating the incident and want to hear Wayne’s side of the events. Sources in his camp told TMZ that Weezy wasn’t involved in any altercation. In fact, they say the bouncer “actually worked in Wayne’s VIP section all night.”
Since the injuries were minor, Wayne could be only be looking at misdemeanor battery charges.
Still, it’s just another entry in what’s been an eventual year for Wayne. He’s seen a strong resurgence musically while working alongside 2 Chainz for their joint project, ColleGrove. Most recently, he made the news after he suffered several seizures that forced his plane to make an emergency landing in Nebraska. He was hospitalized briefly before getting right back on the road and performing just days later.
We’ll have more on this story as details emerge.
