A few days after Christmas 2009 and right before he reported to prison in 2010, Lil Wayne played a show in his hometown of New Orleans. Just about everyone I know in New Orleans went, myself included, to give a loving sendoff to one of our own. Additionally, a bunch of New Orleans Saints football players were also in attendance.
During the show, Wayne paid homage to the team, which was at the time in the midst of a remarkable season that culminated with a victory in the Super Bowl, and acknowledged the love and support he was feeling that night from everyone in attendance. But when the Saints played the Vikings in the NFC championship game a few weeks later, Wayne publicly threw his support behind the Vikings because, according to Wayne, he’s a big Brett Favre fan bandwagon fan. So f*ck Lil Wayne — he’s dead to me.
With that said, Lil Wayne has a book coming out later this year that I won’t be buying…

The million-selling rapper has signed with Grand Central Publishing, a division of Hachette Book Group, for the memoir “Gone Till November.” Hachette announced Thursday that the book will tell of his eight months spent at the Rikers Island complex on a gun possession charge. Scheduled to come out in November, two years after his release, the book will be an “internal monologue,” based on diaries he kept while in prison.
Let’s just hope it’s not as sh*tty as his Tha Carter IV.
