As Lil Yachty prepares for the release of his debut album Teenage Emotions, he’s been dropping new pieces of music here and there. Today, Lil Boat decided to share a brand new track with the world, a song titled “Bring It Back.” Despite his rep for not being down for older vibes, the new song is packed with some of the most recognizable sounds from the 1980s. I mean, those drums alone.
In a recent interview with Genius, Yachty peeled back the curtain a bit about his debut album while alluding to some of the sounds you hear on this latest cut, saying the it, “kind of got an ’80s, ’90s vibe on some of the tracks. It’s called Teenage Emotions so it caters to a teenager’s everyday lifestyle: heartbreak, happiness, that vibe of when you’re waking up in the morning, getting dressed and want to dance. It’s not just bars or straight mumble rap, it goes down different lanes. I be rapping real hard on this one, I be pop singing on this, and I be talking about being lost in love on this one.”
Teenage Emotions is set to drop later this month on May 26. You can listen to “Bring It Back” below.
