Late yesterday Congressmen Steve Cohen, a Democrat from Tennessee, tweeted out some love for Cyndi Lauper, of all people, with the pic above linked in the tweet.
It was quickly deleted, but caught by Politwoops, a site dedicated to capturing dumb tweets by politicians. Additionally, Cohen took to the House floor yesterday to deliver praise for Lauper.
Cohen took to the House floor Thursday for more praise of the Memphis Soul night: “While there were a lot of great performers there, I want to put a particular shout out to Miss Cyndi Lauper. She’s special.” He singled out her rendition of Otis Redding’s “Try a Little Tenderness.”
These are the times in which we live, you guys, where we’re all forced to watch a middle-aged politician awkwardly flirt in public with an 80s pop star. God help us.
