Almost 13 years ago, during a Ryan Adams concert at Nashville’s famous Ryman Auditorium, a fan yelled out the request of Bryan Adams’ “Summer of ’69.” Then he did it again, and again, and again until Ryan had enough and got the fan booted from the show. The sad thing is the fan probably thought this joke was very original and hilarious when, in fact, it is screamed at almost every Ryan Adams show, even on his latest Live at Carnegie Hall album.
Fast forward to Tuesday night. Adams was at the Ryman Auditorium, surprising everyone with a stripped-down version of, you guessed it, “Summer of ’69.” This isn’t the first time Ryan has covered Bryan, the latest was back in October when he performed “Run To You” in Santa Barbara. I guess all that therapy for the “whole Bryan Adams ‘Summer of ’69’ thing” has finally paid off.
