Singer Sam Smith has had a relatively chill year so far. Aside from still basking in the success of his 2014 debut, In the Lonely Hour, Smith is featured on Disclosure’s recently released second album, Caracal, and wrote the new James Bond Spectre theme “Writings on the Wall” (we recently wrote about our favorite James Bond themes).
As the cover story for NME‘s latest issue, Smith spoke with the magazine about a wide range of topics, including his statements about wanting to be more of a spokesman for the gay community, dealing with sadness, and because of the whole Spectre thing, discovering who his favorite Bond actors really are (hint: it’s not Pierce Brosnan).
“[Daniel Craig] was my favorite initially, because I’m 23 years old. I hadn’t seen all the old movies, and I loved how modern his take on Bond was. But when I went back and watched them all, I realized that it’s [Sean] Connery and [Roger] Moore who I love the most. I love how classy and clean-cut they are. I think I’d like the next Bond to be more of a return to that.”
Connery and Moore. The classics. No arguments here. See below for evidence.
