As comedian Lisa Lampanelli made clear in her interview with Uproxx this June, “horse-face” jokes about Sarah Jessica Parker never really fell out of style. If anything, they got worse, and will probably continue to do so given the story the 50-year-old actress told My Favorite Song host John Benjamin Hickey on Sirius XM Radio.
Hickey’s new Radio Andy program challenges celebrities to reminisce about their favorite tunes and, whenever comfortable, explain why they mean so much to them. When the host asked Parker what her favorite work out song was, she named C+C Music Factory’s “Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now),” the classic 1990 hip hop dance number that eventually became a go-to track for sporting venues of all shapes and sizes.
“I was about to do Honeymoon in Vegas, and before that I was off to do another movie in Iowa,” said Parker. “The producer… was very concerned about me being fit for Honeymoon in Vegas, so they sent a treadmill to Iowa.”
When the host pressed Parker for more information, she explained that she was “amenable” to the producer’s concerns at the time and ran “like a lunatic” with the C+C Music Factory jam playing on an endless loop on her Sony Walkman. Said lunatic-like runs first occurred in the Hamptons, where Parker shared a house with several people, before they then continued out in Iowa on the gifted treadmill.
Despite Hickey’s protestations, Parker never admitted to taking offense to the producer’s suggestion throughout the interview. Then again, he never pressed for answers on the real issue — that the Honeymoon in Vegas star listened to “Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)” on repeat.
