Given the amount of hype Stranger Things is receiving right now, it really was only a matter of time before someone (most likely a rapper) dropped a track that prominently featured the show’s popular theme song made by synth duo S U R V I V E. If you had Wiz Khalifa in your office pool, congratulations! You won. Enjoy the Olive Garden gift card.
Khalifa dropped “Stranger Things,” featuring J.R. Donato, late Sunday night. Unfortunately, the track isn’t Wiz ruminating about the various mysteries and what the eff moments the show tossed out there in its fantastic first season. Lyrically, it’s more of the same from Khalifa, even kicking off with him talking about starting his day with a wake and bake. (For the record, message received, Wiz.) Look, he was on the road with Snoop Dogg all summer and you can’t tell me that those two didn’t binge Stranger Things like everyone else did and come away with some wild thoughts and ideas about the show. I’d pay good money to hear that song.
But alas, we are going to have to wait a little longer for someone to not just rap over the Stranger Things theme song, but rap about the show. Hey, what’s Action Bronson up to this week? A rap about Stranger Things sounds like it’d be right up his alley. He’s definitely into other worldly things.
