Lil Yachty is so far into his own lane right now that he might as well have his own road. But that doesn’t mean he can’t take time off from wearing prom outfits and confounding wrongeheaded old heads to do something a little more traditional. The Teenage Emotions rapper dropped in on 300 Entertainment signee Tee Grizzley’s “From The D To The A” video — and while he doesn’t flip into some sort of full-on trap mode — he also doesn’t ride in on a wave made of glitched-out and cat .gifs.
The result brings a bit of levity to the traditional video, which hops between shots of Detroit and Atlanta as quickly as it jumps between shots of helicopters and gravel driveways. Check it out up top.
The video caps off an excellent year for both of its stars, with Yachty shining on one the year’s most infectious rap singles and gaining more and more buzz in advance of his new album Teenage Emotions. Grizzley got picked up earlier this year by 300 Entertainment, the same label that helped turn Migos and Young Thug into household names. “From The D” comes from Tee Grizzley’s pretty excellent mixtape My Moment, which you can listen to right here.
