Is there anything that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson can’t do? The man has proven himself to be a champion in the wrestling arena, smashed box office records, and has one of the most inspiring Instagrams out there, not to mention recently being crowned People’s Sexiest Man. However, there were still worlds left for him to conquer, and on Wednesday he left his mark on yet another. Thanks to his cocky tune in Disney’s latest, Moana, Johnson has finally hit the Billboard Hot 100.
“You’re Welcome” entered the fray at No. 83 in the latest ranking, and is a #42 on the Digital Song Sales Chart, selling 18,000 downloads last week. The Moana soundtrack is also a solid hit, nestled comfortably in the #5 spot on the Billboard 200. Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, Mark Mancina, and Opetaia Foa’i worked hard to create Moana‘s unique music and lyrics, and The Rock brought his now classic charm to the role of Maui, a exiled demigod who begrudgingly agrees to help our heroine go beyond the reef and save her people. As “You’re Welcome” shows, Moana is destined to be one of Disney’s modern classics, so expect the accolades to keep racking up.
I’m calling it now: someday, Johnson’s going to EGOT.
