Frank Ocean’s name has been popping up a lot lately. Fans are (im)patiently waiting on the release of his new album and it doesn’t hurt that so many people are already talking about it. James Blake said the new album was “better” than Channel Orange. There was news that the album could be released this month.
Of course, Frank has been tight-lipped through it all but he may have finally broken his radio silence in an ad for Calvin Klein. The one-minute clip finds Ocean talking abstractly about music and the role it plays in his life.
“If you start a habit and you keep it up for four or five weeks and then you stop, you feel like you’re missing something in your day,” he says. “That’s what music is for me. It feels like a necessary act.”
Young Thug also has his own fall ad. His video is more so centered on fashion and the role it plays in his life. Thug tells the interviewer how he “doesn’t believe in gender” and that in his world, gangsters can dress in both baggie jeans and dresses.
Thug and Ocean aren’t the first two artists that Calvin Klien reached out to. They also solicited the services of Kendrick Lamar, Joey Badass, and Fetty Wap for print ads back in January.
