6LACK’s mysterious persona has officially hit network television. The rising Atlanta singer/songwriter made his TV debut last night performing ‘PRBLMS’ on The Late Late Show with James Corden. Introduced by Beats 1’s Zane Lowe, 6LACK stood atop an LED-adorned cube that occasionally switched from blue to purple as a band played behind him. “I wanted a girl who was down to Earth but she want the Earth and the sky,” he sings. “Least of my problems…”
“PRBLMS,” which is based on a true story, was one of the lead singles from his most recent project FREE 6LACK which included other hot tracks like, “Ex-Calling,” a flip of Future’s “Perky’s Calling” and “Free”. In a short span of time, 6LACK has gone from precocious battle rapper to emerging hitmaker. He was recently tapped as the lead act for Apple Music’s Up Next campaign and had his first on-camera interview with Lowe earlier this month.
“I don’t feel like I’m at a point where it’s time to move on, or to do anything else grand or crazy as far as a project goes,” he told Lowe. “Obviously, on a whole other side bar, my job is to make sure I always have something on tuck regardless. Because you never know if you wake up and the internet is, you know … hungry. Like if they’re hungry I’m always ready to press a button.”
