J. Cole often gets criticized for being just as dull as a pair of safety scissors, but his sharp wordplay and relatable real-life raps makes him adored by his fans. It’s not Internet hype or fake-liking his music either. The love, support and adulation are always backed up and proven when it’s time to support Cole at the sales register.
On top of his platinum album plaques, Cole has another reason to celebrate. The Recording Industry Association of America, better known as RIAA, just certified “Can’t Get Enough” from 2011’s Cole World: The Sideline Story and “Crooked Smile” from 2013’s Born Sinner platinum. The new certifications bring the total of J. Cole’s platinum singles to an astounding six. Your fav could never…unless your fave is Drake.
All three of Cole’s studio albums — Cole World: The Sideline Story, Born Sinner and 2014 Forest Hill Drive — have gone platinum or more, with 2014 Forest Hills Drive going double platinum without any features. Silly Twitter joke but all #facts nonetheless. Another fun fact? All three albums have peaked at no. 1 on the Billboard Top 200, a feat only Drake has also achieved among blog-era rappers.
With the two-year anniversary of 2014 Forest Hill Drive coming up, fans have been hungry for new Cole music. The rapper teased his supporters with “Jermaine’s Interlude” from Khaled’s recent album. And talks of a joint project with Kendrick Lamar are still just talk.
