Every generation thinks that whatever their musical heroes are doing is far more important and impactful than whatever’s happened before, and eventually after. It’s just human nature. Of coarse, the history of popular music is long and it’s convoluted. There’s no linear narrative to be found, and genres and artists crossover and blend all the time. That’s especially true or rock and rap.
No one knows this better apparently than Just Blaze. The super producer was chilling on social media on Wednesday night when he happened upon a claim that seemed to blow his mind. Bryce Treggs, a wide receiver for the Philadelphia Eagles wrote on Twitter that, “Lil Uzi Vert is bridging the gap between rock and hip hop. Iconic. Hate if you want to.”
Blaze wasn’t about to hate on that claim, but he also wasn’t going to let such a it stand without a little bit of pushback either. Immediately, he invoked the names of Run DMC, Adam Yauch of the Beastie Boys and Onyx. He wasn’t done there however. He also also cited some of the biggest names in the history of rap, Lil Wayne and his frequent collaborator Jay Z.
Wayne said to catch him after the Rebirth. Hov said meet him at Linkin Park after his Encore. Maybe you guys can talk then. https://t.co/xwTDsyulYA

no doubt. No hate on Uzi. I appreciate his movement and anyone else who can figure out a lane for success. I'm just being clear. https://t.co/zUL8cVkOfs

Lastly, don't get Mashed Out by Billy and Fame. All that NFL sh** can't out-juke 8,000,000 bullet ad-libs. https://t.co/xwTDsyulYA

And even if you manage to dodge those, @FINALLEVEL may still manage to raise the Body Count. https://t.co/xwTDsyulYA

He ended class with an incredible couplet. “if you need a reminder I know what to do. we may got 99 problems but, Rock and Rap ain’t new.”
Again. No hate. Just saying.
if you need a reminder I know what to do.
