I’m not exactly sure what to make of this. A Michigan fan with the twitter handle @markthenomad sent a tweet back on October 30th that read “I’ll tattoo Jim Harbaugh’s face from his guest spot on Saved by the Bell on my arm if he comes and coaches Michigan”. I guess he was skeptical. On Tuesday, we learned it’s happening; Jim Harbaugh is the new coach at Michigan. So now what?
The way I see it, our young Michigan fan who made the twitter promise has two options. He can go through with it and actually get a tattoo of Jim Harbaugh on his arm. Or option two, he could say “ha, I was just kidding. You didn’t think I was serious about that, did you? Please. That would be dumb.” He also could have just deleted the tweet and pleaded ignorance. I doubt anyone would have noticed, or batted an eye.
But apparently he’s a man of his word because he’s going with the first option. He’s even set up a GoFundMe page and as of this writing has raised $20 of the $200 he needs to help pay for it. His page includes the following note:
Hi. My name is Mark. On October 30, 2014 I made the mistake of making a statement on Twitter that I felt at the time would not come true. I have attached a picture of what I said below. I am not intelligent.
As a result, I am staying true to my word and will get the tattoo that I promised.
Your donations to support this stupid cause are greatly appreciated.
I am a dissapointment to my wife and family. Go Blue.
A disappointment, yes. But also extremely self-aware, and we can’t take that away from him. Go get ’em, Mark.
