Well, well, well, this is pretty damn interesting. In an interview with Turkish TV station NTV Spor, Marshawn Lynch opened up about the Super Bowl, specifically his role at the end of the game. More specifically, not getting the ball at the goal line on 2nd down.
“To be honest with you, I would be lying if I didn’t tell you that I was expecting the ball. Yes, I was expecting the ball. But in life, these things happen. Like I told a reporter after the game, it’s a team sport,” he said in the interview.
Great players want the ball at the end of the game so this is much ado about nothing…right? But hold on just a second.
“I had no problem with the decision of the play calling. I mean, you know, I think it was more of a … how do I say this? When you look at me, and you let me run that ball in, I am the face of the nation. You know, MVP of the Super Bowl, that’s pretty much the face of the nation at that point of time.
So maybe that conspiracy theory has legs. Maybe, just maybe, Seattle didn’t want Marshawn to be the hero of the Super Bowl. Four weeks ago I would have called that asinine. Four weeks ago I would have told you to stop taking crazy pills. But I don’t know, now that Marshawn strapped on his tinfoil hat, I kinda sorta believe him?
Marshawn continued…
“I don’t know what went into that call. I mean, maybe it was a good thing that I didn’t get the ball. I mean, you know, it cost us the Super Bowl.
Ok, I’m really confused. It was a good thing you didn’t get the ball because it cost you a Super Bowl? Can someone draw a diagram for me because I don’t understand the logic here.
Either way, reading between the lines, Marshawn’s not happy with how things went down—and the rest of America agrees.
