Dez Bryant Will Now Miss Most Of The Season With That Broken Foot

Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant suffered a broken bone in his foot last week during the team’s win over the Giants. It didn’t stop him from celebrating in the tunnel after the game, but it was expected to keep him out for the next four to six weeks.

Unfortunately for Cowboys fans, it looks like Bryant’s injury will keep him out much longer than that. According to Ian Rapoport, Bryant will miss the next 10 to 12 weeks after needing a more complicated procedure than originally expected.

Bryant, who broke a small bone in his foot late during the opening win over the Giants, actually needed a bone graft during the surgery that took place last Monday, according to sources informed of his procedure. So instead of a four-to-six week recovery as the team had hoped, Bryant faces a 10-12 week timeframe.

Rapoport also mentioned that the team considered placing him on the Injured Reserve/Designated-to-Return, which would have meant that he needs to wait eight weeks before a possible return, but that didn’t end up happening. Should Bryant return in 10 weeks, he’ll get back onto the field when the Cowboys travel to Miami on Nov. 22. If he takes 12 weeks to recover, then we won’t see arguably the best receiver in the NFL until the start of December, when the Cowboys visit Washington on Dec. 7 for Monday Night Football.
