As you’ve no doubt heard by now, Judge Richard M. Berman overturned the four-game suspension New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was supposed to serve, as handed down by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. The result was a giant celebration out of the greater Boston area and all those on the #FreeBrady bandwagon—not to mention some amazing Internet reactions.
But perhaps no reaction was better than that of presumptive Republican presidential candidate/emperor Donald Trump, who is clearly #TeamTouchdownTom:
Congratulations to Tom Brady on yet another great victory- Tom is my friend and a total winner!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 3, 2015
Of course, this isn’t the first time Trump has weighed in on things that don’t really relate to anything regarding his 2016 presidential campaign. He trashed Penn Jillette and got into it with a “Modern Family” writer on Twitter. He was also thoroughly convinced Ronda Rousey liked him (she doesn’t, by the way). So, it only makes sense that he’d weigh in on the latest Deflategate story.
Although, technically, the saga isn’t quite over. The NFL will appeal the ruling because Goodell is apparently a real-life Chip Diller just asking for another paddle to the buttocks. Whether or not the NFL will win that appeal remains to be seen. But, if the ruling is upheld, we look forward to Trump weighing in again (not really).
