It’s been a rough start to the college football season for Texas Longhorns head coach Charlie Strong. Not only did his team sit at a disappointing 1-4 heading into their home game against Oklahoma on Saturday, but there were also many calling for the coach to lose his job – including whoever used to run the Texas Rangers official Twitter account.
Prior to Saturday, the Longhorns had lost four of their last five contests to rival OU, as well as 11 of their last 12 games against ranked teams. Both of those streaks were snapped, though, as Texas took down the No. 10 ranked Sooners by a final score of 24-17. It was the biggest win of Strong’s tenure with the Longhorns, it came at a very crucial time, and they made sure to celebrate appropriately.
Despite all the struggles that Strong has gone through in his time with the ‘Horns, it looked like receiving the Rudy treatment made all of those troubles slip away, at least for now. That big victory was a long time coming, and there was no happier person in Austin than Charlie Strong on Saturday afternoon.
