Hurricane Joaquin made things wet and wild for College GameDay on the campus of Clemson University. Students and fans were left scrambling for the nearest umbrella and rain poncho as they braved terrible conditions in what looked like a giant mud pit.
But thousands toughed it out ahead of Saturday night’s big game against Notre Dame, a team hit by the injury bug this season. Here’s a look at just how devastating it’s been for the Fighting Irish.
-QB Malik Zaire, broken ankle
-S Drue Tranquil, torn ACL
-CB Shaun Crawford, torn ACL
-DT Jarron Jones, torn MCL
-RB Tarrean Folston, torn ACL
-TE Durham Smythe, knee
And yet despite all that, despite the serious injuries to starting players, the Irish find themselves ranked #6 in the country.
Should be an interesting game against Clemson.
Here are some other games college football fans should keep an eye on (you can see the whole list of games in our Week 5 viewing guide).
3:30 p.m.: Alabama at Georgia (-1.5) (CBS)
Apparently, this is a pretty big game or something. I’ve never heard of either of these teams. They must be indie artists that all the cool kids are listening to these days.
3:30 p.m.: Ohio State (-21.5) at Indiana (ABC/ESPN2)
So the Hoosiers didn’t get GameDay, even if it would have been really fun. But they still have an incredible chance to put up one of the biggest upsets of the season and convince everyone their 4-0 start isn’t just the result of a beneficial schedule. Are the Buckeyes going to get right in Big Ten play and put their stumbles behind them? Or could they get caught in a trap in Bloomington?
And take a look at the best College GameDay signs from Clemson.
