He’s baaaaaaaaack.
Edmonton Oilers rookie sensation Connor McDavid returned to the ice on Tuesday night and played in his first game since breaking his collarbone back in November. McDavid wasted no time in reminding everyone why he was the top overall pick in last year’s draft, promptly scoring the best goal of his young NHL career. And, boy, was it a doozy.
The 19-year-old forward cut through the Columbus Blue Jackets’ defense (which, in fairness, isn’t exactly a super difficult task) with incredible speed and skill. McDavid showcased his elite hands as he undressed multiple defenders and, ultimately, Columbus goalie Joonas Korpisalo.
It’s good to have you back, kid. If he stays healthy, one would assume we’ll be seeing this kind of stuff for years to come.
