Amanda Nunes Is ‘200 Percent’ Sure She’s Going To Beat Ronda Rousey

UFC’s postergirl Ronda Rousey is finally making her return to the octagon on December 30 at UFC 207 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. While Ronda’s return is going to be the story for the next three months, for her opponent, UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Amanda Nunes, it’s the opportunity of a lifetime. It’s a huge fight, and might be the biggest event of the year for the UFC, but from the looks of it, the moment isn’t going to be too big for Nunes.

“This is the moment I’ve been waiting for,” Nunes told TMZ. “I’m 100 percent I’m going to beat Ronda Rousey,” she said before reiterating, “I’m 200 percent.” While confident, Nunes didn’t run down Ronda in the short interview, in fact she stood up for her against detractors that say Ronda doesn’t deserve an immediate title shot after a year off and a devastating loss to Holly Holm at UFC 193 last November. “Ronda Rousey is deserving [of this] fight. She was the most dominant [fighter] and I think she deserves that [immediate title shot],” she said after thanking Ronda and the UFC for the fight.

And as for Ronda being the betting favorite? The champ is okay with that too. “I like that,” she said. “I always fight like that, I’ve always been the one everybody thinks isn’t going to win. This is going to be harder for Ronda because everybody expects her to win, but she can and she knows that.” It wasn’t all compliments, though, as she wrapped things up saying, “I hope she’s ready, I know she’s a very tough opponent, but I’m the best in the world.” After the way she dominated Miesha Tate at UFC 200, it’s hard to argue with that logic.
