The Madden Cover Vote will be finishing up on Wednesday, and it will be between Odell Beckham Jr. and Rob Gronkowski. They’re two of the biggest stars (non-QB division) in the NFL right now, and definitely two of the biggest social media stars — Gronk for his party-boy antics and lovable goofiness, and ODB for his god-level highlights.
Antonio Brown and Patrick Peterson — who were eliminated from the running — are both great players, but ODB and Gronk are the deserving finalists, with the perfect combination of achievement on the field and connection to fans that should define a video game cover athlete. Both of them are worthy of serving as the face of a de facto time capsule of the NFL as it stands now (since Roger Goodell making a derpface was never on the table).
Gronk’s a Super Bowl champion and the best tight end in football when healthy, but Beckham had one of the best rookie seasons ever for a wide receiver and probably wins in the “who would you rather play as” contest. So which one do you think should get the cover?
(If any commenter votes against Gronk and takes a “cheating Patriots” angle, you truly do not get it.)
