While the ESPYs is a night of bad jokes, it’s also a night to recognize some of the most inspirational people to grace a court or a field. Clearly, 19-year-old Lauren Hill fits that description. Hill, the college basketball player who passed away in April after battling a rare brain tumor, captured the sports world with her story. ESPN’s tribute to Hill became one of the most moving things you’ll ever see.
During the ESPYs on Wednesday night, Hill’s parents accepted the Best Moment award on her behalf.
For all the debate about whether Hill or Caitlyn Jenner was “more deserving” for the Arthur Ashe Courage Award, the fact of the matter is Hill was still recognized. Awareness was raised about her condition and how others can help. At the end of the day, that’s the most important thing.
Thank you @ESPYS for honoring Lauren. She would be proud. You can continue to support her mission by donating at http://t.co/fCO3iu58YE.
