If you’d considered visiting Alabama, but were worried about the threat of being eaten by a 920-pound, 13-foot-6 gator, worry no more. Gator hunters Scott Evans and Jeff and Justin Gregg reeled in the massive dinosaur in Lake Eufaula.

“We knew it was big,” Evans told AL.com “We took some measurements of its girth, base and around its tail.” I would say “big” is a bit of an understatement in this case, but that’s just me. Evans said that the meat of the alligator, which estimates to be around 250 pounds, will not go to waste, and that he is planning a “big Labor Day cookout.”
The gator was believed to be around 60 years old, and is expected to officially be declared the largest gator caught in Lake Eufaula, and the second largest in Alabama, just behind the 1,011-pound behemoth that was killed in the state last year.
In his interview with AL.com, Gregg did say he briefly considered letting the animal go:
“It is humbling… Before we dispatched (the gator), it’s running through your mind, ‘Should we just take a picture and let it go?’ It looks like you are looking at a dinosaur.”
The hunters say they plan on having the gator mounted and displayed at an outdoor store. Roll Tide.
