Seventeenth-century poet George Herbert said that the best revenge is living well, but he never had access to Twitter.
Former San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh just wrapped up a successful first season as the coach of the University of Michigan Wolverines. In doing so, Harbaugh undoubtedly won his divorce from the 49ers after they suffered through a disastrous 5-11 season that cost first-year head coach Jim Tomsula his job on Sunday. But, it seems like Harbaugh may have felt the need to take a victory lap on Sunday night, releasing the following dispatch a few hours after news of Tomsula’s dismissal.
Do not be deceived. You will reap what you sow.

It should be noted that Harbaugh has vaguely criticized the 49ers before, but this time the target is clearly 49ers General Manager Trent Baalke, assuming that this is a shot at the 49ers. As you may recall, Harbaugh’s end in San Francisco has long been rumored to have been born from a power struggle with the GM. Would it be all that surprising if Harbaugh wanted to take this low moment in team history and move a little bit of the focus off of Jim Tomsula (who was on his staff), and onto Baalke, who might be feeling a bit lucky to still have a job right now?
Harbaugh, Tomsula, Baalke. It’s a bit odd that the only person who could legitimately be held responsible for the shape of the 49ers’ depleted roster and the low yield from their recent drafts among these three is the one who is still employed by the team, no?
