The Hartford Yard Goats Will Become Steamed Cheeseburgers This Summer

The Hartford Yard Goats were already one of the best-designed minor league rebrands in recent memory, but they’re about to get a whole lot beefier this summer.

The Yard Goats were last seen around here because of a weird strikeout in a game against the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, a truly excellent combination of names. And now they’re adding to that list.

The team announced on Wednesday that they will become the Hartford Steamed Cheeseburgers for a game later this summer. The Yard Goats tweeted out the logo on a shirt on Wednesday night, and well, it sure looks like a burger that’s angry.

As the Goats note, it’s a dish that was invented in the state of Connecticut. If you’ve never heard of a steamed burger before, it’s pretty much what you’d imagine it would be based on context clues.

It took us a while to figure out exactly what’s going on with the burger logo there, but once you see it, you truly cannot unsee it. That’s not a fist or some kind of burger weapon it’s holding; that’s a bite taken out of the burger itself. That explains why it looks, well, steamed.

There’s no word on when Steamed Burger merch will be available, but I’m sure you’ll see burger-themed hats around New England sooner rather than later. The Steamed Burger game is on August 12, and they’ll be available to try if you’re into that kind of thing.
