When the seat is hot, so are the takes.
That much was confirmed on with Monday’s news that the Miami Dolphins had fired head coach Joe Philbin after a 1-3 start to the season. Philbin, who took over the Fins’ coaching job back in 2012, becomes the first NFL coach to lose his job this season.
While Week 4 is typically a pretty early point to fire a head coach, this one wasn’t all that surprising. Miami, who dropped a whole lot of money in the offseason, have been a huge disappointment through the first quarter of the season. As a whole, Philbin’s tenure with the Dolphins was pretty mediocre and uneventful, finishing with a 24-28 overall record with zero playoff appearances at helm.
With Philbin officially out, the next obvious step was for the Internet to react in typical Internet fashion. Of course, there were celebrations.

And blunt responses.

And, of course, suggestions for the next man in line for the job.
But seriously, the Dolphins should call Jim Schwartz.

But the craziest responses came from those who immediately thought Nick Saban would be the perfect fit for the vacancy. If you’ll recall, Saban coached the Dolphins from 2005 to 2006 before leaving to take his current position at Alabama. He seems very comfy at his current job as the highest paid coach in all of college football, but that didn’t stop the people! Oh no, the people cannot be stopped!
I feel like the Dolphins should try to lure Nick Saban away from Alabama.

Nick Saban would be a good guy to target to coach the Dolphins

Look, if Louisville can hire Bobby Petrino AGAIN, the Dolphins can re-hire Nick Saban. World ends when Saban then hires Kiffin AND Dooley.

About time for Nick Saban and the Dolphins to give it another shot.

LET THE SABAN TO THE DOLPHINS RUMORS BEGIN!!!!

I can’t wait until someone asks Saban about his interest in the job during a press conference. That will surely end well.
As for now, Dolphins tight ends coach Dan Campbell will fill in as interim coach.
