Thursday’s edition of College Football Live on ESPN featured a discussion about whether LSU running back Leonard Fournette should sit out next season to preserve his health for his NFL career, which, in all likelihood, will begin in a few years. Analyst Trevor Matich suggested that sitting out might be the smart option, citing the devastating knee injuries South Carolina Gamecocks running back Marcus Lattimore suffered before turning pro. Lattimore, who at one point looked like a surefire NFL stud, never played a down in the NFL and retired from football at 23.

Joey Galloway, however, did not agree with Matich’s opinion. As they argued, the conversation quickly derailed when Galloway somehow equated playing college football in the SEC to sharing the road with women drivers.

Galloway: “That’s like saying ‘don’t drive a car because you might get in an accident.’ ”

Matich: “When you drive a car, you don’t have SEC defenders diving into your legs 25 times a game.”

Galloway: “No, you’ve got women driving!”

Regardless of whether it was a joke, the comment wasn’t well-received by Galloway’s colleagues. The show’s host, Chris Cotter, immediately took over, stating that the show didn’t want to go down that road. Galloway quickly apologized, but it wasn’t enough to save the discussion from the uncomfortable ending that he forced upon it.

It appears that not everyone at ESPN took offense to Galloway’s comment, though.
