With the Browns firmly out of playoff contention, it seemed like they were finally ready to let Johnny Manziel get a few starts under his belt to really see what he was capable of to close out this season. That is, until he lied to his teammates regarding a video of him partying.
Now it appears the Browns are essentially ready to give up on Manziel’s tenure as a Brown, as they have demoted him to third stringer for the rest of the season and will start Josh McCown from here on out.
However, Browns teammate Josh Gordon, who is currently serving a suspension for the entire 2015 season due to substance abuse violations, appeared to voice his support for Manziel on Twitter early Saturday morning with the hashtag #starttheguy.

Of course, there’s no way of knowing for sure that Gordon was talking about Manziel but….we’re pretty sure he was talking about Manziel.
Gordon and Johnny Football developed a friendship during their time on the Browns last year, and Gordon knows a thing or too about being a talented player that gets on his coach’s bad side due to his off the field activity.
Gordon had to know that by voicing his support for Manziel, even indirectly, that he was going to make headlines, but he seemed to be a little taken aback by the reaction to his tweet.

The Browns will face off against Baltimore on Monday night and, despite Gordon’s proclamations, Manziel is highly unlikely to see the field.
