I know, that headline is a real breaking news flash. But as most of the back-and-forth trash-talking between Chael Sonnen and Wanderlei Silva has previously seemed like nothing more than two fighters measuring their dongs on YouTube, the two men who are destined to never fight each other actually got into each other’s faces at Mr. Olympia over the weekend. Silva, who seems to be far less interested in a fight than Sonnen, tracked the American Gangster down for this quick video, and while Sonnen will next fight Rashad Evans at UFC 167, I’m really starting to think Sonnen-Silva is going to happen.
Or Sonnen will be run over by a truck registered to Silva. One or the other.
MLB NL Divisional Series Game 1: Pirates at Cardinals – 5 PM ET on TBS
My honest, unbiased, totally-not-Cardinals-homerism prediction for this series is Pirates in 5. I think there’s always a huge difference between hungry and confident like the Cardinals and starving and confident like the Pirates. Obviously, I hope I’m wrong.
MLB NL Divisional Series Game 1: Dodgers at Braves – 8:30 PM ET on TBS
I have a lot of Braves friends and they all keep talking about a rematch of the 1992 National League Championship Series between the Braves and Pirates, because it will be awesome to see the Sid Bream slide over and over. Well, first of all, we already still see that slide over and over. It was one of the most exciting moments in playoff baseball history. But with the way the Braves players had been so feisty and pissy with their opponents toward the end of the regular season, wouldn’t the more exciting NLCS matchup be the Braves and Cardinals so we can see the infield fly play on repeat and watch Brian McCann rip someone’s head apart from his spine on the field?
I’m just thinking about the ratings, folks. And also the Cardinals winning.
NFL Thursday Night Football: Bills at Browns – 8:25 PM ET on NFL Network
This was scheduled as a favor from Roger Goodell to Bud Selig, right? Had to be.
NCAA Football: Texas at Iowa State – 7:30 PM ET on ESPN
The Mack Brown Farewell Tour continues.
NHL: Kings at Wild – 8 PM ET on NBC Sports
Last season’s NHL lockout has totally thrown off my sense of time. It’s way too early to be thinking about hockey.
NCAA Football: UCLA at Utah – 10 PM ET on Fox Sports 1
I might watch this if I’m not already invested in Parks and Recreation on the DVR. This is Ron Swanson’s Emmy season, friends.
