Someone please explain to me how Trumaine Johnson got away with doing this to @LG_Blount right in front of a ref? pic.twitter.com/PPwcFPQKRi

Behold, the easiest facemask penalty that an official can call. Patriots running back LeGarrette Blount got taken down by Trumaine Johnson during the team’s game against the Los Angeles Rams. It was a standard tackle up until Johnson reached up and yanked Blount to the ground by his facemask.
So we have a play that ended. After, a player grabbed another player’s facemask and viciously pulled him to the ground. This seems like it would be an easy 15 yards for the Patriots. However, because NFL referees haven’t exactly been on fire during the 2016 season, this happened.
Not called by officials or even mentioned by CBS. https://t.co/fFSGG3c6gf

Between the missed call here and the missed call on a cheap shot by Nick Fairley, it’s been a rough day for officials calling obvious facemask penalties.
