Michael Sam was cut by the St. Louis Rams today as they finalized their 53-man roster. It was one of the team’s last moves as the 4 p.m. deadline neared. Michael Sam played quite well in the preseason, showing a lot more speed than most draft experts had given him credit for. He played well enough to earn a legitimate consideration from the coaching staff as they looked to shore up their defensive line. But alas, his play didn’t warrant a roster spot.
Sam’s future is up in the air for now. He could stay on the Rams as a practice squad player, but he also has the opportunity to sign somewhere else. I, for one, don’t believe Michael Sam’s time in the NFL is over. Stay tuned.
