Michigan fans can get a bad rap, and we (yes, I just outed myself as a Michigan fan) may very well deserve it sometimes. But, as a Wolverines fan proved on Friday, we’re not all bad.
The fan in question was wallowing in Michigan’s 24-17 defeat at the hands of Utah in their opener at the Bourbon House in Salt Lake City, where they left a tip worth a cool three-grand on a bill worth $505. Also included were the words #HAIL and #GOBLUE written on the receipt.
The server who received the tip, Breanne Snow, told The Salt Lake Tribune that she “went in the corner and cried for a few minutes” after getting the tip. Snow said that her and her boyfriend both work two jobs to pay off debt.
“It came as such a relief. He could have picked anyone else in there, and for him to pick me, it meant a lot because we were working so hard.”
The patrons who left the tip told the bar owner to look up “Tips for Jesus” on Instagram, a group that came to fame back in 2013 when a $3,000 tip was left at a bar in Ann Arbor, and has left as much as $11,000 on a tip in Arizona.
