After a very slow start to the season, Sidney Crosby has turned it on as of late and has regained form as one of the most elite offensive players in the NHL. In fact, the Pittsburgh Penguins center headed into Monday not only 10th in the league in points, but also with points in 10 consecutive games.
He made that 11 games on Monday night against the Anaheim Ducks, and he did so in spectacular fashion. About halfway through the third period, Crosby got a breakaway and managed to fight off a couple of hooks from Ducks defenseman Cam Fowler and still score a goal as he was falling to the ice.
It was a spectacular individual showcase of control and skill, one that helped solidify an incredible night. It was Crosby’s second goal and fourth point of the game. That gives him 22 points (12 G, 10 A) over the 11-game stretch and slides him up to fifth in the league in scoring.
So, yes, in case you were wondering: Sidney Crosby is still very, very good.
