This week has been an exciting one for soccer players’ butts. Not only did one inspire a hashtag and send international fans into a frenzy, but a separate soccer butt also got its owner ejected from a game.

Adam Lindin Ljungkvist, a player for a Swedish lower-level team, was sent off during a match over the weekend after being shown a red card for unsportsmanlike conduct. His infraction? A super loud fart. Apparently, the dude ripped such an epic toot that the referee felt it was harmful enough to toss him from the game.

As you can imagine, Ljungkvist was both very confused and very angry about it. After all, farts are awesome and funny and should be celebrated, not penalized.

The 25-year-old said afterwards: “It was a strange red card, I can hardly believe it myself. I had a bit of a tummy upset and in the last minute of the game I let off a fart. The referee showed me a yellow card, then followed up with red. It was my second yellow and I had no memory of my first at all. I was pretty angry with the referee, and I could not quite believe what had happened.”

Ljungkvist went on: “I can only surmise that he thinks I did it up against an opponent, but to provoke someone with a fart would be pretty bizarre. I just did a perfectly innocent fart, and got sent off for it. The referee said that it was unsportsmanlike behavior.”

Ljungkvist also went on to claim it was “a sh*tty call,” which hopefully was not meant literally.
