Not too many people are talking about FC Barcelona’s 3-2 victory over Villarreal on Saturday, as much as they’re talking about one very specific moment. As he was taking a corner during the match, Barca and Brazilian national team player Dani Alves was subject to one of the worst and most unoriginal racist fan taunts in the world, as someone in the stands at El Madrigal stadium chucked a banana at him. Unlike Kevin-Prince Boateng before him, though, Alves didn’t simply leave the game in protest. Alves picked the banana up, ate a huge chunk of it and went about his business, because his dad told him that bananas cure cramps.
As for the fan, Villarreal management claims that matters have been handled in the second best way possible.

The best way possible? Put him in an ape enclosure at a zoo and let Alves throw a banana at him. Or, you know, stick with the other way and not promote violence. Whatever.
