From the Big Boy radio show, word has come directly from Dana White’s mouth that TJ Dillashaw has broken a rib and is out of his title fight rematch with Renan Barao at UFC 186 in April. It is unclear if Barao will still fight on the card, or if the bout will get rescheduled later in the year. It is probable that the co-main event, a flyweight title bout between Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson and Kyoji Horiguchi will become the new main event, which is good because Mighty Mouse is an outstanding fighter and the flyweights regularly put on great shows.
It’s really unfortunate though, since Dillashaw and Barao were scheduled to face each other for a second time back at UFC 177, but a failed Barao weight cut left him unable to compete, leaving Dillashaw to defend his title against Joe Soto in a late replacement.
I’m not going to say this rematch is cursed yet, but it’s looking more and more likely that Dillashaw vs Barao 2 won’t be happening for quite some time.
