Ronda Rousey returns after just two months of down time to defend her women’s bantamweight title against fellow Olympic medalist, Sara McMann, in the main event of UFC 170. Before that momentous fight takes place, though, there’s an entire card packed with fun fights.
The event kicks off with the early prelims at 7:00 PM ET on UFC Fight Pass. I’m really looking forward to Erik “New Breed” Koch kicking a dude’s head off. Go Roufusport!
The regular prelims will be on Fox Sports One, starting at 8:00 PM ET. Quite a few things to look for here, including Zach “Fun Size” Makovsky beating up a dude called “Gremlin”, and what should be a rad women’s bantamweight fight between Jessica “Evil” Eye and Alexis “Ally-Gator” Davis. Go Chompers!
The main card is on Pay-Per-View (Buy it, you cheap jerks!) at 10:00 PM ET, and it looks pretty fun from where I’m sitting. Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson looks to continue kicking people in the head as he takes on Robert Whittaker, Mike “Quicksand” Pyle brings his mullet into what could be a fun grappling match against TJ Waldburger, Demian Maia and Rory MacDonald can move a little closer to a welterweight title opportunity with an impressive performance, and in the co-main event, former wrestling training partners, Daniel Cormier and Patrick “Durkin” Cummins will square off. And of course, the main event pits 2008 bronze medalist in judo and current, reigning, defending, undisputed UFC women’s bantamweight champion “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey against 2004 silver medalist in wrestling, Sara McMann. Get all sorts of hype, y’all, this fight should be rad.
